Why Cyber Career Lab exists
Breaking into cybersecurity has a well-known catch: entry-level roles often ask for experience, and the usual ways to learn — videos, courses and exam prep — teach concepts rather than the work itself. Many capable people pass certifications and still freeze when an interviewer asks, “You see this alert. What do you do?”
Cyber Career Lab was built to answer that question with practice. Instead of being told what happened in an incident, you are given the evidence and asked to investigate it, decide what it means and write it up — the same way a working analyst would.
What we believe
- Skills come from doing. Concepts matter, but confidence comes from working through real problems.
- Realistic, not theatrical. Security work is methodical. Our simulations reflect the real job, not a movie version of hacking.
- Beginners deserve a fair start. You should not need a security job to get security experience.
- Honesty about what exists. Features in development are always labeled as coming soon.
How the simulations are built
Each scenario is modeled on the kinds of incidents security operations teams handle regularly — suspicious sign-ins, phishing reports, endpoint detections and escalating incidents. Evidence is presented as raw data so you practice interpreting it yourself, and investigations are scored on your reasoning and documentation as well as your conclusion.
Every environment is fully simulated. Names, organizations and IP addresses are fictional, and no real systems or real user data are involved.
How we keep content accurate
Learning guides are checked against official sources such as certification bodies and vendor documentation, and are dated so you know when they were last reviewed. Certification details in particular change often, so we link you to the official source for anything time-sensitive. If you spot something that is out of date, please let us know.
Where we are today
The SOC Analyst path is the first simulator on the platform. Penetration testing, cloud security, network security, digital forensics, GRC and other career paths are in development.
